Solomon did evil in the Lord’s sight;[a] he did not remain loyal to[b] the Lord, as his father David had. Furthermore,[c] on the hill east of Jerusalem[d] Solomon built a high place[e] for the detestable Moabite god Chemosh[f] and for the detestable Ammonite god Milcom.[g] He built high places for all his foreign wives so they could burn incense and make sacrifices to their gods.[h]
